My name is Jody, and I've just started slingsalsa!®
In late 2011 we were blessed with our baby boy, Theo. As a former professional dancer I was used to exercising regularly and taking care of myself, but with our energetic new addition to the family, the demands on my time grew and I began to find taking a regular class increasingly difficult.
Thinking that it would be nice if Theo could join me, and finding it hard to locate a class where he could, I thought it might be an idea to create one myself. So, that's slingsalsa®: Baby, in a sling, dancing with you.
It's a great way to exercise regularly, get out and about, and meet others in a similar situation.
It's really important to me that slingsalsa® is a fun, accessible and, above all, inclusive class. It's dance-inspired, but no experience of dance or exercise of any kind is required.
I have a diploma in performing arts, trained from an early age in Ballroom and Latin under 'Strictly's' Len Goodman and danced professionally with the likes of Robbie Williams. I trained mainly in London in many styles including Street, Lyrical Jazz, Ballet and of course, Salsa.
I work closely alongside the Mid-Cheshire sling library, to make sure that our mums and babies are always comfortable and safe. I'm also a member of the Foundation for Community Dance, listed in The Dance Register and am fully DBS (formerly CRB) checked. You can find out more about me and can view my professional code of conduct through either of these bodies. I'm commited to the safety and comfort of anyone who comes along to dance and have fun with us.
Come and give it a try, I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do.
